My research interests fall under the broad topic of ecology, and include predator-prey interactions between aquatic invertebrates, and the sensory biology and population genetics underlying these interactions; nitrogen cycling in lake systems, and the use of molecular techniques to identify key organisms in biogeochemical cycling; and the use of appropriate technology and sustainable practices in the maintenance of ecosystem services. I also have interest in social, ethical and technological aspects of science education, as well as the origin and perpetuation of health disparities, particularly as they pertain to environmental health and justice.
